It will soon be time to "tango!" Next week I take 22 paintings from my studio in Colorado to Minnesota for a large two-person exhibition at the world renown University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This show has been in the making for nearly two years and it is exciting to know that reality fast approaching. It is also nerve wracking because it is challenging to try to image what the final exhibition will look like and how people will respond to our work. The show is based on showing viewers how two artists interpret the same subject (florals and landscape of the Arboretum) and create uniquely different paintings.

"The Tutu Tango" is inspired by the many cone flowers that are found around the grounds of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Hi Carol what a fabulous website, blog and newsletter!
By the way the painting of the cone-flowers above is gorgeous! Break a leg at your show!

Hi Carol,

I like your recent e-News-Letter and your husbands brave venture into the unknown.
You are are much more senior artist in experience so my thoughts might help since I have not been working as long at this art world.
I've been on my website for about 6 months, starting last October, and the website approach although easily allowing others to view my art work in my expereince is not a good tool for sales--for the software folks creating FASO--the pay is mighty good. I'm not being sarcastic, but I see what I see.

So what is a successful artist, is it someone who loves the process, loves to vary the subject matter from time to time, enjoys gifting a work to a special freind or even a stranger, trys new techniques new mediums, makes some sales and continues from day to day rejoicing in this work expression? What is your reason for being an artsit in the first place, what are the top three strengths you use to create the dynamic work you produce? Are you strenthening your strengths even more or are you wasting time on your weaknesses are they hapmering your vision and imapocting your work?

Here is what I believe about every painting i create--each one is a master piece--no one else can repaet this work, no one can exactly copy the work, and my work varies for a reason, the weather changes too, but we live to learn to accpet the changing part of weather--whay not accept the changing nature of you from day to day--you are alive and well--God made you human, rejoice in your daily process.

In looking at your workj I do not see an artsit making safe art s you indicated far from it--that might not have been true what randy was talking about in regards to your art-be gentle on yourself--your work is good, be patient and things will show up in time as they are meant to. I take the same advice myself. When things aren't selling like hotcakes it is easy to think our work is subpar--not true--the times might be sub par--but not the art work.

Fun times are meant to show more genius in all of us--keep up the great work-- and keep making this great art--don't listen to the critic--he is always looking for an easy answer to things he needs to keep his fat nose out of--enjoy your day--Jimmy
